In light of the Government guidelines regarding the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus throughout the UK, and in particular London, it has been decided by the Middlesex Board of Directors today that all Middlesex Golf activity shall be suspended/postponed with immediate effect, until the 31st of May. These restrictions have been made after careful discussions with all our neighbouring Counties and we are all in agreement and our decisions are congruent.
This includes all County Tournaments, County Coaching, Course Rating, Interclub Matches, County Knockouts, County Events, and all similar types of activities.
As you know, the situation is changing day by day and the board will review these restrictions and timelines on a regular basis. The first review by the board will take place on April 30th.
At the moment, we are not cancelling any County Tournament or Knockout as we will do our best to rearrange them all at a later date in the season. Each event will be reviewed individually and the feasibility of rearranging it will be made on a case by case basis and finalised once we have come out of this postponement period. As such, all events will be on hold until such time.
If you still wish to play golf at your home club during this time, please do so in a safe manner that is within Government Guidelines. After what has been a tough winter for golf in Middlesex, we encourage you to support your club in whatever way you can but in safe manner that keeps your health, and the health of your fellow members, as your main priority. Please see our document about how to safely play golf during this outbreak, here.
We understand that you will be disappointed by this decision, but the main consideration at this time is the safety of the members of Middlesex and we believe the best way for us to ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones is to follow the advice provided by UK Government, the WHO, and the NHS.
