Middlesex friern league rules

 THE LEAGUE WAS FORMED TO ALLOW JUNIORS TO PLAY MATCHES UNDER COMPETITIVE CONDITIONS, AGAINST OTHER CLUBS TO IMPROVE THEIR GOLF.  THE LEAGUE COMPRISES TWO SECTIONS

 1. EACH CLUB WILL PLAY HOME AND AWAY MATCHES AGAINST ALL OTHER TEAMS IN THEIR LEAGUE. EACH TEAM WILL COMPRISE SIX PLAYERS OF EITHER SEX.

2. ALL PLAYERS MUST BE BELOW THE AGE OF 18 YEARS OF AGE ON THE 1ST JANUARY OF THE CURRENT YEAR. ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE HANDICAP. HANDICAPS MUST BE NO HIGHER THAN 36 UNLESS IN THE CASE OF GIRLS THE ADDITION OF EQUALISATION SHOTS PUT THEM ABOVE THAT HANDICAP.THERE IS NO MINIMUM HANDICAP.PLAYERS WITH A HIGHER HANDICAP MAY BE INCLUDED IN A TEAM PLAYING OFF A HANDICAP OF 36.     

4. ALL MATCHES WILL BE PLAYED UNDER ENGLISH MATCH PLAY RULES. FULL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE HANDICAPS OF THE TWO PLAYERS WILL BE ALLOWED. PLAY WILL BE FROM THE MEDAL TEES WHERE EVER POSSIBLE WITH GIRLS PLAYING FROM THE LADIES TEES. IN MIXED MATCHES BOTH PLAYERS WILL USE THE STROKE INDEX ON THE LADIES CARD. GIRLS WILL RECEIVE EQUALISATION SHOTS EQUAL TO THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MENS AND LADIES STANDARD SCRATCH.    

 5. THE ORDER OF PLAY WILL BE THAT THE LOWEST HANDICAP PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM WILL PLAY AGAINST EACH OTHER, FOLLOWED BY THE NEXT LOWEST HANDICAPPED PAIR AND SO ON DOWN THE SIX PAIRS OF PLAYERS. EXACT HANDICAPS WILL BE USED. IN THE CASE OF EQUALISATION SHOTS, THESE WILL BE APPLIED BEFORE THE HANDICAP ORDER IS DECIDED.

6. THE FIXTURE LIST WILL BE DECIDED AT THE A.G.M. BEFORE THE START OF EACH SEASON.  IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH CLUB TO ARRANGE THE INDIVIDUAL MATCHES.

7. THE MATCHES SHOULD BE PLAYED AT WEEKENDS OR SCHOOL HOLIDAYS. ANY DEVIATION FROM THIS MUST BE BY MUTUAL AGREEMENT. THE HOME CLUB MUST RESERVE THE STARTING TEE FOR THE MATCH, TO ENABLE ALL THE SIX GAMES TO COMMENCE WITHOUT INTERRUPTIONS

 8. THE WINNING TEAM WILL SCORE FIVE POINTS.  WITH TWO POINTS EACH FOR A DRAWN MATCH, AND NO POINTS FOR A LOSING TEAM. AFTER ALL OF THE MATCHES HAVE BEEN PLAYED THE WINNER OF EACH LEAGUE WILL BE THE CLUB WITH THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF POINTS. IN THE EVENT OF A TIE THE WINNER WILL BE THE CLUB WITH THE GREATER NUMBER OF INDIVIDUAL MATCHES WON. IF A TIE STILL EXISTS THEN THE WINNER WILL BE THE CLUB WITH THE GREATER NUMBER OF WINS AGAINST OTHER CLUBS TIED ON THE SAME NUMBER OF POINTS. IF A TIE STILL EXISTS, THEN THE WINNER WILL BE THE CLUB WITH THE GREATER NUMBER OF HOLES WON DURING THE SEASON ON A CUMULITIVE MATCH-BY-MATCH BASIS. THE WINNING CLUB OF EACH INDIVIDUAL LEAGUE PROGRESS TO THE SEMI FINALS.

 9. IN THE EVENT OF A MATCH NOT BEING PLAYED, EVERY EFFORT   MUST BE MADE TO REARRANGE THE MATCH BEFORE THE END OF AUGUST, EVEN IF IT MEANS PLAYING A DOUBLE HOME/AWAY FIXTURE, OR AT A DIFFERENT NEUTRAL VENUE. IN THE EVENT OF FURTHER DISAGREEMENT NOTIFY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE LEAGUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

10. IF A CLUB IS UNABLE TO FIELD A FULL TEAM OF 6 FOR ANY MATCH THEN THE TEAM MUST CONSIST OF A MINIMUM OF 4 PLAYERS.

11. IF A CLUB WITHDRAWS FROM THE LEAGUE AT ANY TIME DURING THE COURSE OF THE SEASON THEN ALL POINTS AWARDED AT MATCHES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED WILL BE VOIDED.

12. THE HOME CLUB WILL PROVIDE LIGHT RESHMENTS FOR BOTH TEAMS AFTER EACH MATCH.  ALL PLAYERS MUST OBSERVE DRESS REGULATIONS ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY VISIT OTHER CLUBS.

13. ANY JUNIOR WHO IS A MEMBER OF MORE THAN ONE FRIERN JUNIOR LEAGUE CLUB MAY ONLY PLAY FOR THE FRIERN JUNIOR LEAGUE CLUB THAT HOLDS HIS/HER HANDICAP. HOWEVER IF THE PLAYERS HANDICAP IS HELD AT A NON FRIERN JUNIOR LEAGUE CLUB BUT THEY ARE A MEMBER OF A FRIERN JUNIOR LEAGUE CLUB, THEN THEY WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY. IN THE EVENT THAT A PLAYER IS ALSO A MEMBER OF A CLUB IN A DIFFERENT LEAGUE, AND IS SELECTED TO PLAY FOR BOTH THE FRIERN JUNIOR LEAGUE CLUB AND THE CLUB FROM ANOTHER LEAGUE IN THE SAME COMPETITION THEN HE/SHE MAY ONLY PLAY FOR THE CLUB THAT HOLDS THEIR HANDICAP.                

14. CADDIES ARE NOT ALLOWED DURING MATCHES AND IT IS NOT ALLOWED FOR OTHER PLAYERS, SUPPORTERS, FRIENDS OR ANYONE ELSE TO GIVE ADVICE TO PLAYERS DURING MATCHES. SPECTATORS MUST KEEP TO THE EDGE OF THE FAIRWAYS AND GREENS DURING PLAY. IF FOR MEDICAL REASONS THIS RULE IS TO BE VARIED THEN THE OPPOSING TEAM MUST BE NOTIFIED.

15. EACH TEAM MUST BE UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THEIR JUNIOR ORGANISER FOR THE DURATION OF THE MATCH. THE ABSENCE OF A CLUB REPRESENTITIVE WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTABLE IF THE OPPOSING ORGANISER TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WELLBEING OF BOTH TEAMS

16. IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE SEMI FINAL AND FINALS STAGES OF THE FRIERN JUNIOR LEAGUE A PLAYER MUST HAVE PLAYED IN AT LEAST ONE LEAGUE MATCH IN THE CURRENT SEASON AND MUST BE ABLE TO PRODUCE A COMPUTERISED PLAYING RECORD SHOWING THEIR PARTICIPATION IN AT LEAST SIX (6) COMPETITIONS SINCE THE 1ST JANUARY OF THE CURRENT YEAR.

17. ON A YEAR BY YEAR BASIS AND ONLY WHEN THE NUMBER OF TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE FALL BELOW 16, CLUBS MAY BE ASKED IF THEY WISH TO ENTER A ‘B’ TEAM. IF APPROVED THEN THOSE TEAMS MUST PAY SEPARATE ENTRY FEES. THE ‘B’ TEAM WILL ALWAYS BE PLACED IN A DIFFERENT LEAGUE TO THE ‘A’ TEAM. WHEN A PLAYER IS SELECTED FOR THE ‘A’ OR ‘B’ TEAM, THEY MAY ONLY PLAY FOR THAT TEAM FOR THE DURATION OF THE SEASON. THEIR NAME AND THE TEAM FOR WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN SELECTED MUST BE NOTIFIED TO THE CHAIRMAN.  

18. ONLY IN THE CASE OF THE SEMI FINALS AND FINALS. WHEN AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SIX (6) INDIVIDUAL GAMES THE RESULT IS A HALVED MATCH THEN THE WINNER WILL BE DECIDED AS FOLLOWS :- THE FIRST MATCH WILL START AGAIN FROM THE 1ST TEE AND WILL CONTINUE ON A HOLE-BY-HOLE BASIS UNTIL ONE PLAYER WINS A HOLE. THE SAME HANDICAP ALLOWANCE WILL BE GIVEN AS FOR THE ORIGINAL MATCH.

19. THE WINNING TEAM SHOULD TELEPHONE OR E-MAIL THE RESULT TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE LEAGUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF EACH LEAGUE MATCH.
