Middlesex Golf Union
The County 2nd Team plays a very important part in Middlesex Ladies’ Golf.
The team comprises of players ideally with a handicap of 10 or less. It provides a route through which talented players can progress to represent the County at 1st Team level. As such we are very proud of our 2nd team and strive to encourage players to achieve their full potential.
Selection to the 2nd team is based on the previous year’s performance eg practice County matches, County Championships and Club Competitions. Past Stovold performance and commitment to Middlesex is a key factor in selection together with mid-week availability.
The season starts in April with a couple of friendly matches, usually in conjunction with players from the County 1st Team and Junior Team. These are followed by four Inter-County Stovold Trophy matches, played against Hampshire, Kent, Surrey and Sussex in the summer months after County Week in June.

THE STOVOLD TROPHY
Pat Stovold is a past Captain and past President of Surrey Ladies’ County Golf Association. She is a great supporter of Surrey Ladies’ Golf, with particular emphasis on the development of junior golf and the encouragement of talented young golfers to County First Team standard.
Pat introduced the Stovold Trophy to the South Region golfing calendar in 1997. The format has remained essentially the same over the years with teams of six (reduced from eight in 2015) playing foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon – two home and two away matches in rotation.
