In the Triangular match at West Essex Golf Club, against Essex and Kent, the Middlesex U18 team performed exceptionally well, beating Kent, the 2013 winners but losing to a strong Essex team. The team consisted 5 foursomes pairs and 10 singles. There was 2 points for a win and 1 for a half. In the morning foursome against Essex, after losing the first two matches, captain, Tom Nagle and Gyo Ho Lee, won their match 3&1, and Ed Williams and James Ruddick won the last match 2 up, leaving Middlesex trailing Essex at lunch, 3-2. In the afternoon singles, against Essex, Kumar Starkie-Gupta, playing number one, got the team back on level terms by winning the first match 2&1. Unfortunately we lost the next four matches, before the tail wagged with good wins for Matthew Lockwood and Ed Williams. James Ruddick gained a valuable half, but Essex ran out worthy winners. The Triangular result was ESSEX 38 points MIDDLESEX 27 points KENT 25 points
