Happily enough the early season league match fell on one of the sunny dry days which have been an exception recently. Both sides were missing players who have turned pro and those who are still involved with college studies. The course considering the bad weather recently was in fine condition even so the managers agreed to allow pick and place on the fairways.
The Middlesex team was Justin Phelps, Dan Jeffries, Matt Pegg, Jake Mildenhall, Dan Parsons, Michael O’Connor, Liam Ainsworth and Max McGrail.
The morning foursomes: Dan Jeffries and Matt led off and lost on the 17th. Dan Parsons and Michael had the same fate. Justin and Jake ended up all square having been 1 up most of the game but had been hit by a 40 foot holed putt on the 17th which levelled the match. Liam and Max strolled to a comfortable win.
The P.M singles: Justin although 2 under after 4 was 1 down and finally lost on the 16th. Dan Jeffries with his mind thinking about the QPR relegation football match raced to a 6/4 win. Max early down made a fightback but lost on the 17th. Jake had to shake hands on the 16th. Matt too was always behind and with his opponent birdieing 4 of the last 5 holes he lost on the 15th. Dan Parsons also lost on the 16th. Liam was always in control and won on the 16th. Michael was up early then pulled back but clinched his win on the 17th.
The golf was of high standard as expected and all matches were played in very friendly spirit.
