A tough day at Chobham against a strong Surrey U16s whose handicaps ranged from 3 to 7. Despite the overall loss there was much to be hopeful for from the Middlesex performances. Playing on a course the Surrey players were accustomed to Dylan Ghadia and Oliver Baker both lost 2 & 1 to their 3 handicappers. Alex Shaw, Tom Nagle and Max Wheeler also lost by the same narrow margin with some outstanding golf being played. Some tighter putting and the matches might have tipped the other way. Edward Williams had an outstanding win (2 up) churning out par after par whilst throwing in a couple of birdies against his much lower handicap opponent. Aaron Khera and Abhishek Pankhania will have taken much from the step up in age group and Michael Griffiths and Ryan Careford, despite convincing defeats, played some very good golf in their rounds. Congratulations to Surrey. Great to see the Middlesex players back on the course supporting their team mates after their games were completed. All the players should gain confidence from their performances which should stand them in good stead for the matches and competitions ahead.
