The Silver Spring Meeting this year took place at Muswell Hill Golf Club on Friday 27th April, sharing the day with the qualifying round of the County Championships, as in the last three years. This was the first major event of the year and despite the low numbers it lived up to all expectations. Even the horrendous weather couldn't dampen spirits.
There were 21 players representing 10 clubs, playing individual Stableford in teams of three in the morning and a 9 hole team waltz in the afternoon, when everyone relaxes and has a bit of fun. The course was in excellent condition despite the wet Spring, with the greens proving very quick and tricky to read.
There must be winners and here are the players who triumphed:-
First Prize and winner of the Dr. Lewis Smith Challenge Cup, Arlene Bailey from Finchley with 36 points
Runner-up. Triveni Narayanswamy from Pinner Hill with 31 points
Third Place. Louise Tulip from Muswell Hill with 30 points
The afternoon Waltz was won by the Muswell Hill team of
with a score of 33 points.
Our thanks go to the Muswell Hill office, Kevin, Head Greenkeeper and May, Ladies' Captain and her Ladies for ensuring that the day went so smoothly. Also to the fantastic catering team from the kitchen to the bar, who waited on us so cheerfully all day and produced such superb food. And, of course, to the members of Muswell Hill Golf Club who loaned us their course for the day.
