Bush Hill Park played host to the first Colts fixture of the year. Hertfordshire were the visitors and the course was in good shape and presented a fair test for both teams.
Hertfordshire dominated the morning foursomes winning all four matches. Tom Nagle and Ritik Patel fought to the very end, but were unable to prevent a morning whitewash, losing one down to the strong pairing of Jack Slater and Jon Hopkins.
The afternoon singles proved to be closer, but early defeats for Matthew Lockwood and Connor Madden all but sealed the victory for Hertfordshire. However, a mid-order rally from Robbie Lyon and Tom Nagle ensured there was some red on the board, and a gutsy halve from newcomer Luke Williams provided some positivity on what was a difficult day against an experienced Hertfordshire team.
Team Manager, Tom Talbot, and his assistant, Eamon Kneafsey, were very happy with the team spirit and fighting attitude they displayed. Team Captain, Elliot Brown spoke on behalf of Middlesex and thanked Bush Hill Park for the use of the course and the catering.
Next up is Essex on 29 July at West Middlesex Golf Club.
