A Weeks Golf in a Day – Without Compromise - #1Day7Rounds

June 21st 2018 - Unique & Ambitious Golf Challenge @ Enfield Golf Club, North London

1 Day – 4 Golfers - 7 Rounds / 126 Holes – c40 miles walking – c600 shots each

Raising funds to buy a new wheelchair friendly minibus for Oaktree Special Needs School

Widespread Media & Awareness Campaign – Patronage, Sponsorship & Donations Welcomed

On June 21st, 4 ambitious golfers will attempt to create a small piece of history by each playing 7 rounds
of golf at Enfield Golf Club in North London to raise funds for nearby Oaktree Special Needs School.

Just to ensure this is a real challenge, the golfers will be carrying their own full set of clubs over the 7
rounds / 126 holes / c40 miles and playing as a fourball off the white competition tees.

This is an extreme test of stamina, speed and golfing efficiency, starting at around 4.15am, playing
continuously until the full 7 rounds are completed just before dusk, about 17 ½ hours later – this
equates to average 2 ½ hours per round without a break.

There will be a widespread awareness campaign across a number of platforms, which will include
actively trying to gain media coverage and support from companies, celebrities & professional golfers.

The golfers will be actively seeking donations via their Just Giving donations page, but there are also a
number of patronage & sponsorship opportunities available.

The initial target of £30,000 is to fund an urgently needed new wheelchair friendly minibus for Oaktree
School – the school caters for children between the ages of 5-18 with complex special needs – they are
facing the dual challenge of fulfilling the increasing needs of their c90 pupils with reduced resources.

Enfield Golf Club, with a renowned James Braid designed parkland golf course, are a current Jamega
Tour host & recently supported a charity golf event involving Sir Ian Botham & Shane Warne. Given their
strong community links, the club are happy to support this unique event in their 125th anniversary year.

The golfers are all single figure handicappers associated with Enfield Golf Club;

Neil Clydesdale (Aged 45 / 9HCP) ; Doug Whelpdale (35 / 6) ; Michael Peak (23 / 4) ; Dan French (38 / 9)

This ambitious project is being actively supported by the Friends of Oaktree School (FOOS) and all
fundraising will be collected by them either directly or via JustGiving.

Quote from Neil Clydesdale, Golfer and Grateful Father of Pupil at Oaktree School

“From Day one, we thought we would be ambitious with both the golf challenge & also the fundraising –
want to deliver something tangible & long lasting, hence our initial target of a new minibus.

We believe this is an almost unique challenge of it’s type and we are excited about the personal
achievement as well as making a very positive impact on the lives of the school & its pupils.

Oaktree is a fantastic school that does great work with very deserving children who have complex needs
– both the kids and the school deserve our help.

My son is Autistic & has been at Oaktree for two years – his progress has been amazing – just feel this is
a great way of showing my personal gratitude with the support of my friends.

Really hope we can get a great level of awareness & support – would hope golfers around the world will
understand the enormity of the challenge and donate something just for our ambition.

We know that Ernie Els & Jordan Speith have close relatives with Autism - wouldn’t it be great if we
could get even a little support from such global golfing icons to help raise awareness.

Overall, I am looking forward to the day and I will be very proud to walk down the last hole with my son,
the team and our friends from Oaktree knowing we have collectively achieved something special.”

Quote from Richard Yarwood, Headmaster of Oaktree School

“Incredibly grateful that these guys are putting their time & efforts into supporting the school in such a
worthy way – much of what they are doing embodies the BEAR values we use with the children.
“A new minibus will be a much needed replacement and the addition of wheelchair friendly
functionality allows all children the chance to be included in off campus and after school activities.”

Quote from Des Cassidy, General Manager Enfield Golf Club

“What better way for a community golf club to celebrate it’s 125 year anniversary than some of our
golfers playing a mind blowing 125+1 holes in a day for a great local cause. Another great event for
Enfield Golf Club – we are very proud of our golfers, please come along on the day to support them”
