The Middlesex Youths’ Championships were hosted on Monday at a blustery Hendon Golf Club. In a strong entry Tom Nagle (Pinner Hill) with 2 rounds of 72 pipped Enfield’s Max Nicholls by 2 shots to win the U21s Championship. In the U18s category 2 rounds of 74 was sufficient for Hendon’s Nya Fraser-Lawrence to come out on top with Arran Kanth (Pinner Hill) also just 2 shots behind. Nya now goes on to represent Middlesex at England Golf’s ‘Champion of Champions’ competition at Woodhall Spa in September. The U16s category saw a play-off between Tayan Wagjiani (Ealing) and Kiaan Patel (Hendon) and Tayan’s excellent birdie on Hendon’s short par 3 9th hole was sufficient to take the honours. Julia Kerrigan (Hendon) won the U18s girls’ trophy with 2 excellent rounds of 79 and 77 whilst Daniella Ubasa (The Buckinghamshire) was the top U21 girl with 2 very impressive rounds of 75.
In the nett competition our winners were Tom Pritchett, Enfield (U21), Alex Barnham, Muswell Hill (U18) and Ryan Georgiou (U16).
We wish to thank our generous hosts Hendon GC for an excellent day’s golf. The course as always was challenging and the breeze especially tested players course management and choices of clubs. We wish all our competitions a happy and successful summer’s golfing.
