President's Foursomes & Middlesex Sixes
A very autumnal Sunday afternoon, wet conditions to contest the finals of our season long competitions the prestigious President's Foursomes and Middlesex Sixes. Hendon took on Sudbury in the President's Foursomes and West Middlesex were facing Northwood in the Sixes. Six competitive pairs marched onto Wyke Green's first tee in support of each other and their opponents.
Hendon's pairing of James Ellis and Mark Tomlinson secured the first point for their team, winning 4&2. Sudbury's Dan Jeffries and Niall Keogh put their team on the board by defeating Jordan Forster and Manato Nakatani, but Hendon ensured the trophy would return with them for the second year running, when Scott Galloway and Nya Fraser-Lawrence defeated Dan Parsons and Matthew Lockwood 2&1 in a closely-fought match. Hendon completed back-to-back victories and have now won the competition three times in its 13-year history.
The Middlesex Sixes is the county's most popular knockout tournament and making it to the final is a fantastic achievement in itself. This year's final would be contested between West Middlesex and Northwood. It was competitive final that could have gone either way. However, it was West Middlesex that eventually came out on top, winning 2.5-0.5. The west-London club has now won the prestigious competition three times in total, with two of those victories coming in the last three years. Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic season!
