For the second year running, Hendon Golf Club hosted the Frank Rowse Final and the course was presented in excellent condition.
16 clubs took part in Middlesex's premier team knockout event and it was Sudbury and West Middlesex that had battled their way to the final.
Both teams were evenly matched and it promised to be a closely fought encounter. However, it was Sudbury that flew out the blocks, emphatically taking the morning foursomes 4-0.
West Middlesex needed to produce something special in the afternoon singles to turn things around, and they certainly gave it their all. At one stage they led in six of the eight singles matches and threatened a Miracle at Medinah-style comeback. However, Sudbury managed to dig deep and claw their way back in a number of matches. They secured the required 2.5 points to ensure their lead was unassailable and added a further point to eventually win the match 7.5-4.5.
It was the club's seventh Rowse victory, having previously won the prestigious event in 1952, 1958, 2005, 2008, 2011 and 2012.
