Middlesex Golf

Critical appeal to the members of Middlesex Golf

To all Middlesex members,

At Middlesex Golf we are aware of the serious implications that the COVID-19 restrictions may have on golf in the County, especially after the wet winter we all experienced. We know that clubs are working extremely hard to ensure their survival, giving the current situation their best thoughts, and implementing survival strategies already.

At our recent Annual Awards Dinner our Chairman, Ray Andrews, in what now seems like a prescient moment, asked us in a paraphrase of John F. Kennedy, “ask not what your club can do for you but what can you do for your club”. That sentence has never been more applicable than right now.

Clubs and courses around the country have been asked to close and their finances will come under extreme pressure, and some may not survive. In Middlesex, we are entering the period when most clubs’ annual subscriptions are due and at an unprecedented time when personal finances are under great strain.

Your club needs your support. If you have the means to pay your fees in a timely manner, or in any manner possible, this will increase the likelihood that you will have a club to return to and a golf course that is ready to play on.

If we can assist your club in any way, please let us know and we will do our best to help.

Yours in golf,

Darragh Coghlan
