Following the scheduled meeting of the Middlesex Golf board on April 30th, Middlesex Golf’ have decided that all Middlesex Golf activity shall continue to be suspended/postponed until the 30th of June. This extension of the restrictions have been made after careful consideration of the government's guidelines and discussions with all our neighbouring Counties and England Golf. Most importantly it is in-line with the government's policy which is designed to save lives in this time of national emergency.
Middlesex Golf activity includes all County Tournaments, County Coaching, Course Rating, Interclub Matches, County Knockouts, County Events, and all similar types of activities.
As you may know, we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and the situation continues to change day by day. The board will review these restrictions and timelines on a regular basis. The first review by the board will take place on May 31st but if major changes are made to the restrictions we will convene at an earlier date.
As previously stated, we are not cancelling any County Tournament or Knockout as we will do our best to rearrange them all at a later date in the season. Each event will be reviewed individually and the feasibility of rearranging it will be made on a case by case basis and finalised once we have come out of this postponement period. As such, all events will be on hold until such time.
With this in mind and considering England Golf's new ' Play Safe, Stay Safe' guidelines it may be feasible for us to reinstate the County Knockouts earlier than any Championship. We are eager to bring golf back to the County and if the opportunity arises to do so in a safe manner we will certainly avail of it.
We encourage you to support your club in whatever way you can but in safe manner that keeps your health, and the health of your fellow members, as your main priority.
We understand that you will be disappointed by this decision, but the main consideration at this time is the safety of the members of Middlesex and we believe the best way for us to ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones is to follow the advice provided by UK Government, the WHO, and the NHS.
If anyone has any questions or queries please email the County Secretary, Darragh.
