Men's and Women's Senior Championship - Final Day

Thankfully temperatures returned to normal for the second and final day of the Men's and Women's Senior Championship. The men got proceedings underway on a perfect morning for scoring but as the day went on the wind began to pick up. At day's end, when the leaders were finishing their rounds, it was two a club breeze.

In the Men's Championship, Matthew Bayford of Hendon GC played beautiful golf and found himself only +1 on the day with four holes to play and several shots in the lead as round one leaders faltered in the increasingly difficult conditions. His playing partner and Muswell Hill member, Steven Walsom, was also playing fine golf and after back to back bogies on 15 and 16 from the leader, Matthew, there was only one shot between the two. Matthew went on to bogey his final two holes but so did Steven giving Matthew a narrow one shot victory.

In the Women's Championship, it was all to play for as only three shots separated the six women at the start of the day. After nine holes, defending champion Liz Kynoch found herself tied for the lead with local member Louise Tulip. But it was Mandy Miller who stepped up and began the back nine with three pars and a birdie to overtake her competitors and she held her composure to see them off for an impressive three shot victory.

Final standings can be seen HERE

Mandy Miller and Matthew Bayford, 2020 Champions

 Mary McDowall, 2nd Place

 Steven Walsom, 2nd place
