Saskia Owen weathers the storm at the U14's Championship

The Middlesex juniors have endured an unlucky streak with regards to weather at tournaments over recent months with the 2019 U16's being cancelled due to heavy rainfall and the recent U26's Championship being shortened to 18-holes also becuase of heavy rain. Unfortunately, the U14/U3's Championship at Hendon GC this was no different. The day began nicely but as the last tee times hit their opening tee shots the rain began to fall. It gradually became torrential and the course became water logged. The course was still playable and the young competitors battled on in the tough conditions. Eventually, the referees had to call the competitors in from the course due a localised threat of lightening. The players and officials waited as long as they could to restart the round but the tournament was reduced to 9-holes.

In the tough conditions, Bush Hill Park's Saskia Owen and Enfield's Tyrese Danso took home the main prizes with fantastic scores of 38 and 39 respectively.
