Harris brothers win Men's Spring Meeting

It was a long, long time since the last Middlesex Men's Spring Meeting was held but the consistent success and popularity of the Women's Meets inspired Middlesex Golf to reinstate the Men's Spring Meeting and the members signed up in their dozens. A full field of 64 players, 32 pairs, took the fairways at North Middlesex GC on Friday 7th May.

Despite a cold month preceding the tournament, the recent rain and slightly warmer temperatures gave head Greenkeeper, Ben O'Sullivan, just enough growth to present the course in fantastic condition. The forecast was favourable but a difficult and chilly breeze persisted all day and the slick greens kept the usual high 4BBB scores looking more like singles Stableford scores.

Mark McDonough & Dickie Smart of Enfield GC who were first out, set the clubhouse lead with 41 points. Avishka Kumarasinghe & John Kaseke of Pinner Hill GC pipped the Enfield pair on the back six holes with another 41 points. Both pairings fell one shot short of the Harris brothers from Stanmore GC, Mark and Adam, who had a fantastic round of 42 points.
