The Men's 6-man team event saw an extremely hot day in Bury St Edmunds and our team started the first round fairly well with Niall Keogh posting 1-under, Danial Parsons E-par, Cameron Elers and Justin Phelps posting 1-over. Unfortunately, Joe Pitts and Kane Stone's morning rounds didn’t go to plan, so Middlesex finished the morning in 9th place after 18--holes.
Middlesex's afternoon had again some mixed results; Kane shot 2-under, our best score of the day, Niall followed up with a 2-over and he had the best aggregate score overall, Joe Pitts' 2-over and Justin, Cameron, and Danial all finished 4-over.
The final team standings can be viewed HERE.
Bury St Edmunds was very dry, like many UK courses now and any shot slightly off-line was seriously punished with the additional roll, which ultimately undid several good Middlesex rounds on 1 or 2 holes.
Overall Middlesex finished in 10th place, but our teams certainly deserved better with the effort they put in. I would thank Justin, Joe, Danial, Niall, Cameron and Kane for representing Middlesex in Suffolk.
Our next league match is against Hertfordshire on 7th August at Northwood GC, 1st tee-off is 8am for any golf watches.
Unfortunately, we lose both Jack Neill and Joe Pitts to America for the rest of this season, but all our team members would like to wish both of them good luck in the college golf season.
