Mikael Khursheed wins the triple in play-off at Eamonn Kneafsey Championship

Muswell Hill GC was the ideal setting for the Middlesex Eamonn Kneafsey Championship, the U30, U21, and U18s Championship. This year, the upper age limit was increased to U30s, previously at U26s.

Muswell Hill GC was very accommodating and welcomed the Middlesex juniors for their 36-hole championship on Monday the 25th of July, the first official day of school holidays.

The help offered by Muswell Hill was excellent. The women's Captain started all players off the 1st tee in the morning and a few members, including Junior Captain Lilly, offered their time to ball spot on the tricky 6th hole. Magda and all the catering staff looked after everyone very well. We want to sincerely thank Muswell Hill GC for hosting the championship as they ensured its success.

Two-time defending Champion, Will Orridge, could not complete the triple (having won the U21s & U26s the previous two years) but there was another triple achieved on the day. Stanmore's Mikael Khursheed, only 15 years old, won the U18s, U21, and U30s with a score of 150. He beat Enfield's Ben Davies (75 - 75) on the first playoff hole with a regulation par 4.

Izzy Codling (81 - 78) and Mikael Khursheed (74 - 76) won the Girls' and Boys' U18 Championships and with it the right to represent Middlesex at the County Champion of Champions events at Woodhall Spa in September. Lucy Labdon and Stanley Campbell finished runners-up, respectively. Additionally, Izzy and Mikael both won the Telegraph Justin Rose qualifier in round one which means that their scores will be added to the national leader board and they will be in with a chance to play the national finals at Walton Heath GC. A very successful day for two of our best junior golfers.
