31 junior golfers, both boys and girls, from around the county, with ages ranging from 8 up to 14 years old and handicaps from 40 to 5, played 18 holes of strokeplay on the wonderfully presented Strawberry Hill Golf Club, located in the most southern part of the county.
Strawberry Hill's Abhisaran Sohal defeated Hendon's rising star, Menato Nakatani, in an exciting playoff to win the Under 14 Championship with a gross 69 (+5).
The playoff defeat wasn't such bad news for Menato, as he was still top of the U13 Championship with the same gross score of 69. Fittingly, in the first year that the event has also included girls, Menato's younger sister, Heruhi Nakatani, finished second in the U13 Championship with a gross score of 78. Enfield's Thomas Pritchett was the runner up in the U14 category, after a gross 74, which, unfortunately, included a triple-bogey 7 on the last hole.
Other winners on the day included James Hunt (Ashford Manor) and Jamie Owen (Ealing) who both posted nett scores of 59 (-5) to win their respective age categories. Leo Garcia (Strawberry Hill) and Enfield's Tyrese Danso picked up the runner up prizes in the nett competition, with scores of 61 and 60, respectively.
The CSS on the day was 62 for boys and 67 for girls against the SSS of 63 and 68.
