Report from Middlesex Seniors v. Bedfordshire on Mon 13th May @ Muswell Hill GC
Middlesex County Seniors kicked off their league season with a win against Bedfordshire at Muswell Hill GC.
Thanks to Guy and the team at Muswell Hill for hosting the fixture at short notice. The gusting wind and slick greens proved a challenge but the players produced some excellent golf ensuring the result went down to the wire.
The first two matches, Simon Westgarth (Fulwell) and local boy, Steve Walsom finished all square. Steve turned around his match from dormie 2 down to seal a half with a birdie on 18th.
Wins from the Irish trio of Mick McCormick (West Midd), Tom Griffin (Crews Hill) and Pat O’Neill (Brent Valley) put Middlesex 4-1 up after five matches.
The remaining games were very close but wins from Martin Walsh (Pinner Hill), Tim Jones (Muswell Hill) and a half from Nick Clarke (Muswell Hill) sealed a 6.5 v 3.5 victory.
Next up is an away match v. Herts on 28th May at West Herts
